CASE 6 – RECOVERY AFTER HEART ATTACK

A 45-year-old man was admitted to a hospital after experiencing severe chest pain, sweating, breathlessness, and weakness, symptoms strongly suggestive of a heart attack (myocardial infarction). He was immediately taken to the emergency department where the medical team performed urgent clinical and laboratory investigations.
Blood tests revealed significantly elevated cardiac enzymes, confirming that damage to the heart muscle had occurred. The doctors explained to the patient and his family that the condition was serious and required immediate hospitalization for advanced cardiac management. The cardiology team strongly recommended urgent angiography in order to examine the coronary arteries and determine the site and extent of blockage. Depending on the findings, they advised that stenting might be necessary to restore proper blood flow to the heart.
The patient was initially given emergency treatment according to standard medical protocols, which helped stabilize his immediate condition. However, once the acute phase had passed and the patient regained some stability, he expressed strong reluctance to undergo angiography or any invasive cardiac procedure.
Despite repeated counseling by the medical team regarding the possible risks of refusing treatment, the patient decided not to proceed with angiography or stenting. Because of the seriousness of his condition, the doctors were hesitant to discharge him, explaining that untreated blockage could lead to further heart damage. Nevertheless, the patient insisted on leaving the hospital and ultimately signed a written declaration acknowledging the possible risks and consequences of leaving against medical advice.
After leaving the hospital, the patient was brought to our clinic for homeopathic management and supportive care.
Following evaluation of his condition and recent medical history, homeopathic treatment was initiated. The patient was first given a single dose of Arnica 1M. Arnica was selected with the intention of supporting the body’s recovery after trauma to the heart muscle and circulatory stress associated with the heart attack.
From the following day, supportive homeopathic remedies were started:
• Crataegus Q
• Arjuna Q
The patient was advised to take 14 drops of each medicine in water, three times daily, for a period of 45 days. In addition to the medication, he was also advised to maintain adequate rest, avoid excessive physical strain during the recovery phase, and follow a balanced and heart-friendly diet.
During the course of treatment, gradual improvement was observed. The patient reported increasing strength, reduction in chest discomfort, and improvement in overall energy levels. His physical endurance slowly improved, and he began to resume light daily activities.
After 45 days of treatment, follow-up medical investigations were performed. The results showed normalization of the previously elevated cardiac parameters, and the patient’s clinical condition was stable.
Over time the patient continued to regain confidence in his physical health. Remarkably, four years after the initial heart attack, he remains healthy and active. He is able to perform regular physical activities and reports no major cardiac complaints. He continues to live a normal life and remains under periodic observation.
This case illustrates the potential supportive role of homeopathic remedies in cardiac recovery and long-term rehabilitation following a heart attack, particularly when aimed at strengthening the body’s natural healing and circulatory functions.
