CASE 9 – CHRONIC INDIGESTION WITH FOUL BELCHING

A young boy was brought to the clinic with a long-standing complaint of digestive disturbance that had been present since early childhood. According to his parents, the child had been suffering for several years from chronic indigestion, which affected his appetite, comfort, and general well-being.
The most prominent symptom was frequent belching (eructations) with a very unpleasant and foul smell. These episodes occurred repeatedly throughout the day, especially after meals. The foul odor associated with the belching caused embarrassment and discomfort for the child, particularly in social situations.
In addition to the bad-smelling belching, the patient also experienced abdominal heaviness, bloating after eating, and occasional loss of appetite. His parents reported that he often complained of a feeling of fullness and discomfort in the stomach even after eating small quantities of food. Because of these symptoms, the child sometimes avoided meals and appeared weaker than other children of his age.
The family had previously attempted various dietary adjustments and symptomatic treatments, but the problem continued to persist without lasting relief.
After carefully reviewing the patient’s medical history and evaluating his digestive symptoms, homeopathic treatment was initiated.
The patient was prescribed Carbo Vegetabilis 30, a remedy traditionally associated with digestive weakness, gas formation, and foul eructations.
Following administration of the remedy, gradual improvement was observed. The frequency and intensity of the foul-smelling belching began to decrease, and the child’s digestive comfort improved. Over time, the symptoms of bloating and abdominal heaviness also diminished.
As his digestive system stabilized, the patient’s appetite improved and his general health began to recover. Eventually, the foul-smelling eructations disappeared completely, and the child was able to eat normally without discomfort.
This case illustrates how homeopathic treatment may help restore balance to the digestive system, particularly in long-standing conditions involving chronic indigestion, gas formation, and foul eructations that have persisted since childhood.
